parrot turns the words you encounter into flashcards, tracks how well you know each one, and brings them back right when you're about to forget.
Three tabs, one system
Every word you encounter flows through the same engine. Read to discover, Play to learn, Collections to review what needs attention.
Follow a story-based learning path with flashcard packs, reviews, and reading checkpoints.
Read stories segment by segment. Tap words, look up translations, and save vocabulary as you go.
All your words, automatically sorted by how well you know them. Quick-play flashcards from any bucket.
Play tab
Pick a story and parrot builds a zig-zag path of nodes — flashcard packs, segment reviews, and reading checkpoints — so you always know what to do next.
Read tab
The Read tab is your library. Open a story, swipe through segments, and build your vocabulary naturally — without leaving the page.
Collections tab
parrot automatically places each word into a retention bucket based on your review history. Words that need attention rise to the top — mastered words retire permanently.
The engine
Most apps use fixed review intervals. parrot takes a different approach — every word gets a living retention score that changes based on how you actually perform, so your study time always goes where it counts.
Words you struggle with stay in rotation. Words you've nailed fade into the background — but resurface before you forget them.
Getting a word right repeatedly builds real strength. Slipping up brings it back sooner. The system rewards honest practice, not guessing.
A word you reviewed yesterday needs less attention than one you haven't seen in weeks. parrot accounts for that automatically.
When a word truly sticks, it graduates to your Mastered collection and never decays again. You earned it.
Words are sorted into nine review buckets — from urgent to near-perfect — so you always know where to focus.
Make it yours
parrot is designed to feel personal. Pick your bird, set your reminders, and keep your progress on your home screen.
Each mascot comes with its own colour palette, app icon, and paper background — African Grey, Scarlet Macaw, Hyacinth, Cockatiel, Galah, Kakapo, and Bourke's Parakeet. Light and dark mode included.
Word reminders pull a random word from your collections and schedule entirely on-device — no data sent to our servers. Streak alerts fire at 8 PM if you haven't practiced yet, using your mascot's name as the sender.
Home screen widgets show your streak, words learned, and story progress. The lock screen word-of-the-hour widget surfaces a vocabulary word — tap it to jump straight to that word in Collections.
Meet the flock
Seven birds, seven personalities. Your mascot appears throughout the app — in flashcard sessions, on results screens, and in your notifications.
